Julia Pedersen has compiled a book of photos taken by her husband and herself in the 1970s of the classes with BKS Iyengar, including stories from the students of the early days.

Guruji BKS Iyengar would have been 100 on 14th December 2018. He started teaching in 1936 and was teaching up to the last breath. One will not believe, if I say that just 15 days before his demise he was sitting on the balcony facing the hall and saw someone doing Ardha Chandrasana wrongly near the grills and pointed out the mistake asking the teacher to correct. The person was happy and saluted Guruji from the hall. Nothing missed his sharp penetrative eyes.

Julia Pedersen, my great friend, has done a wonderful job of joining the photographs with the reflections of the students from the '7OS or even earlier from every corner of the world. Many of the pupils have not seen him when he was dynamic, fast and swift in his movements. His eyes were shining and the arms were ever-ready to help. He used to move from one pupil to another in a fraction of a second and touch the pupil exactly where the touch was needed.

True that photos cannot talk to you, but julia has done it. The picture not only informs you, but talks to you as lively as Guruji was. Such an active, positive and dynamic personality was our 'Guruji'. He is our divine guide who sends the messages when we are fully awake or in deep sleep. We cannot forget him even in our dreams. Many people have experienced it.

I request you all to treasure this book in your heart. Do not just read or see the pictures, but feel Guruji's divine presence and nearness. The book will talk to you. The book will make you see beyond. The book will take you towards Guruji. It will inspire you spiritually to be on the path of pure yoga which Guruji gave us with sanity, sanctity and Divinity.
